It’s not often you discover a value wine $20 or less retail.
and return to it time and again with similar results. Add to this the skills of
renowned French wine Consultant Michel Rolland and you have a wine worth
exploring.
Clos de los Siete is a red blend from the Mendoza region of
Argentina located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains at elevations of 1000
plus meters. As to the name “Clos” is a historical French enclosed land parcel
where vines are planted. “Siete” represents seven vineyard sites where the
grapes used in this exceptional blend are grown.
Its mainstay grape Malbec, is supported by a blend of French
varietals including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. Growing
conditions in this section of Mendoza are ideal with gravel soils, ample
sunlight and good temperature swings. Rainfall is limited due to rain shadows
from the Andes. The production standards are of a high caliber featuring manual
grape harvesting.
The wine features moderate tannins balanced with good
acidity and rich concentrated fruit.
If you don’t want to break the
bank with an expensive Bordeaux or Napa Cabernet, this is a great alternative on
steak or burger night. It’s also a great pour for guests who are looking for
something other than Pinot Noir.
So, this weekend you can make a choice how to spend $20. ..
Option 1) you cross the Verrazano Bridge in heavy traffic.
Option 2) enjoy an interesting bottle of red in your home or
back yard. You will find Clos de la Siette at many retail outlets and
increasingly restaurants featuring wines by the glass.
